Fire Prevention Information

As you may be aware, the Department of Commerce's Fire Prevention Code Council is in the process of updating and revising COMM 14.  The Council has recommended that the Department update the current version of NFPA 1 to the 2006 edition and rescind the alternative fire code option (International Fire Code) in order to provide consistency in fire prevention in the state.  It is anticipated that the Department will adopt the 2006 edition of NFPA 1/UFC to take full advantage of the updates that have recently passed.

Some of our members have contacted the Department of Commerce concerning their support for NFPA 1/Uniform Fire Code for a variety of reason.  North Shore Fire Chief Dave Berousek and Milwaukee Fire Department Chief William Wentlandt expressed their support for NFPA 1/UFC based on their review and use of the code.  After reading their letters of support, you understand why the WSFCA supports the NFPA Suite of Codes.
