Volunteer Job Discrimination (protection)
Two companion bills are being circulated for co-sponsors that would protect volunteers from discipline when going to work late after an emergency response. These two bills would require that an employer permit an employee who is a volunteer firefighter, emergency medical technician (EMT), first responder, or ambulance driver for a volunteer fire department or fire company, a public agency, or a nonprofit corporation to be late for or absent from work if the lateness or absence is due to the employee responding to an emergency that begins before the employee is required to report to work.
We need everyone to contact their legislators and ask them to sign on these two bills as co-sponsors.
WI Police & Fire Fund
The 2010/2011 budget created a Police and Fire Fund from a $.75 a month phone tax
