Chief Keith Kesler’s (Brule Fire Department, 1978) forty-year career in both Fire Service and Emergency Management dates back to the 1970s when he began as a volunteer on BFD. As well as serving as Chief of BFD since 1978, Kesler distinguished himself as a safety response expert while serving as the Douglas County Director of Emergency Management, Communications and General Services (retired, 2019). Having led his community through no less than five Presidential Emergency Declarations over the years, Kesler’s dedication to the residents of Douglas County is self-evident. Chief Keith Kesler was named Volunteer Fire Chief of the Year by the WSFCA for 2019, and his superior knowledge will undoubtedly be a tremendous asset to the WSFCA board for 2019-2020.
